Arts-integrated preschool for ages 3-4 at the Ballet Academy of South Texas.
SPARK stands for Social growth, Play, Arts, Readiness and Kindness. It is a private, half-day fine arts preschool enrichment program developed by Ballet Academy of South Texas for children ages 3-4.
Through ballet, tap, creative movement, acrobatic arts, and visual arts, your child will build coordination, musicality, focus, and confidence while developing the academic and social skills they need for kindergarten.
Our curriculum combines Frog Street and Zoo Phonics with premier dance training so your child learns through movement and play every single day. We focus on the whole child, blending early literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning with the joy of creative expression.
Located in the heart of downtown Victoria, SPARK takes learning beyond the classroom. Library time happens at the Victoria Public Library. Art projects come to life at the Nave Museum. Our students explore, discover, and grow through real experiences in real places right here in their community.
This is not a daycare. It is an enriching experience built around how young children learn best.
Ballet, tap, creative movement, and acrobatic arts that build coordination, musicality, and lasting confidence.
Language development, early literacy, writing, and math concepts taught through our Frog Street and Zoo Phonics curriculum.
Hands-on art lab experiences that explore visual arts, science, and social studies through age-appropriate creative projects.
Whole-child development focused on collaboration, kindness, and communication in a supportive classroom environment.
Every morning at SPARK is thoughtfully structured to blend movement, creativity, and learning.

Owner & Director
Brenda Tally is an experienced arts educator, administrator, and choreographer with deep roots in Victoria. She began her own dance training right here in Victoria and has spent decades developing young artists through dance technique, choreography, and performance. SPARK extends her mission of bringing world-class arts training to the youngest learners in the Golden Crescent.
Program Director & Lead Teacher
Angelica Kurtz is a 2007 graduate of the University of Houston–Victoria with a BS in Psychology and a focus on early childhood education. For the last 20 years, she has worked in education in Victoria through Mid-Coast Family Services, Trinity Episcopal School, and most recently as a 3K Teacher at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School. Angelica is passionate about integrating the arts so that children have a solid educational and social-emotional journey through childhood and beyond.
Angelica lives in Victoria with her husband, Matthew, and daughter, Lilly. Outside of educating young minds, she enjoys travel, food, and the arts—especially theatre. She serves as President of the Board of Directors at Theatre Victoria and is heavily involved in youth education programming there.
Co-Teacher & Dance Coordinator
Sarah Mills began dancing at a young age, building a strong foundation in many styles including tap, ballet, and acrobatic arts. She has been teaching for five years and currently teaches at the Ballet Academy of South Texas, where she shares her love for a variety of dance styles. Sarah is passionate about helping children grow in confidence, coordination, and listening skills, and is excited to integrate educational foundations with dance to create a well-rounded, enriching learning experience for young learners.
Our goal is to meet each child where they are and help them grow through creativity and collaboration.
Your child must be 3 or 4 years old as of September 1, 2026.
All students must be independently toilet trained before the first day of class.
Able to communicate wants and needs and feel comfortable sharing space with other children.
Mrs. Kurtz is truly a one of a kind teacher! Her background in education mixed with her love for the arts, specifically theatre, make it so much fun for the kiddos to learn, thrive and succeed. Mrs. Kurtz is kind, caring and patient and the love her students have for her, even years after they have had her, is a true testament to that.
